The Lincoln Project

Republicans Working to Defeat Trump’s Re-election

The members of the Lincoln Project are Republicans against Donald Trump gaining a second term in office. The Project makes and distributes political ads that call Trump out on his deceit, lies, and deceptions. They describe themselves as such:

Today, we find ourselves divided again – sectionalism in the country and factionalism in government has led to ever uglier examples of how our political system is failing. President Donald Trump and those who sign onto Trumpism are a clear and present danger to the Constitution and our Republic. Only defeating so polarizing a character as Trump will allow the country to heal its political and psychological wounds and allow for a new, better path forward for all Americans.

They do seem to have their arrows hit the mark when President Trump starts a tweet storm, railing against the Lincoln Project. One of the founders is George Conway, husband of Kellyanne Conway, an advisor to President Trump. Bet that leads to a lot of silent dinners at home.

Here’s one of their political ads. Give it a watch.

The Lincoln Project (June 24, 2020)

I tend to like their ads. They do not fear Donald Trump or his sycophants. Bear in mind that the Lincoln Project still stands in opposition to the Democrat Party. Their stance is just to remove Trump and send him packing home to New York, or is it Florida? He can’t make up his mind.

There has been enough of his divisiveness, his failure to be a leader. His character is that of a pathological liar and a narcissist. There is a strong movement in the United States for ending racism against Black people, providing them the complete equality they have fought for since they gained freedom from slavery in 1865. Trump sees the BLM as thugs and terrorists.

There also is a strong demand to defund or disband the police in the country. Now, those two words are being used to scare America into believing there will be no police in the US. That is not true. But, there will be a new policing paradigm that removes the over militarized paramilitary police we now have. The police are no longer here to protect and serve the citizens. Instead they are protecting the government, the corporate class, and the ruling class in the nation.

As a country we need to change priorities to improving education, finding the healthcare system that will cover ALL Americans and any non-citizens in the US (both legal and “illegal”) – even if that means some type of national health service, we must build a strong and stable economy that isn’t controlled by corporations or billionaires. We must remove the social security system, replacing it with retirement systems controlled by each individual in the workforce, their retirement should be their responsibility.

There is much more to reform as well. I will explore these topics more in the future.

Some White Americans are Showing Their True Colors Openly – Again

Donald Trump has shown them attacking Black people is once again acceptable

We know that President Donald Trump is a racist. It’s plainly clear to anyone with any common sense. He proclaims it all the time when he opens his mouth, with comments like ‘kung flu’ that he has used in two rally speeches so far.

That’s bad enough, but then we see White Americans figuring that if Donald Trump can do it, so can they. I can hardly stand to be a White American and I offer my apologies for, which will never be enough, the fools who are treating Black people, Americans, like inferiors.

Is it that white people are just being ugly to their fellow American Persons of Color, or have they always harbored hate and can now express it?

Ending the Two Party Lock on the US Government

Both at the State and Federal Level

Are you tired of the two party political system in the United States? Would you like to see a system wherein third party candidates can succeed in being a representative for the people? Is there any way this can be accomplished, to break the two party stranglehold on American politics? Are you wondering how? Okay, let me explain an idea (certainly not the only idea either).

First, let me say that any change to break the two party hold on government will likely require some alterations to the US Constitution. The Constitution will be an integral part of this new political system. There will still be a House of Representatives and Senate as well. Making it possible for third party representation in Congress will provide a benefit that we do not have at the moment. It will provide a greater representation of the people. There are those who don’t want to vote for either major party candidate. While they could vote for third party candidates, they do so knowing that their candidate won’t likely win.

So, how do we end this problem? We change the form of our elected officials at the state and federal level from what it is now to a Constitutional Parliamentary form.

What To Expect

Upcoming Posts

It is difficult to get oneself into a groove of writing regularly. I’m still struggling to do so. It’s not for a lack of topics either.

I’ve got several in mind. Some will be Blog Shorts and the rest of the longer length. Let me list some of the topics I plan to write about:

  • Donald Trump’s Tulsa Speech (full length)
  • Defunding The Police, Not “No Police” (blog short)
  • Republican Zombies: Trump Followers (blog short)
  • Geoffrey Berman: Trump’s Obstruction of Justice (full length)
  • Trump Administration: They Come & They Go (full length)
  • Is Trump Trying to Become a Fascist Dictator? (full length)
  • Floyd & Brooks: A Continuing Pattern (full length)
  • Whistling Dixie: The War of the Statues (full length)

The order that these topics appear is random. For the longer full length posts a lot of research needs to be accomplished. That slows done my regular publishing. Depending of what I find in my research, some full length articles may change into Blog Shorts and vice versa.

So, what I have decided to do is publish on a schedule where on Monday I’ll publish a Blog Shorts (this one being this weeks), on Wednesday and Saturday I’ll publish full length articles. I’ll try it out and see how it works. If I have to shuffle it around later I will.

Now, if you should ever have a topic you’d like to hear about just drop me a line. I promise to do my best to accommodate you.

Now, as for the rest of today I’ll enjoy some Fritos and continue my research.

I Usually Don’t Buy ‘Tell All’ Books

The Room Where It Happened by John Bolton

Bolton’s book

Now, usually, not only will I not purchased or read ‘tell all’ books, I also don’t buy books where the President of the United States is central to the book. I figure I lived through their presidency, why relive it?

However, after hearing excerpts of John Bolton’s book, “The Room Where It Happened”, I made an exception. This book covers Bolton’s time as National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump. Now, my personal opinion of Bolton is that he’s too hawkish for me. I really wasn’t upset when he left government service.

Dan Bongino’s Poor Analysis

There were other options outside his stated “bad and a worse option”

On Sunday, Dan Bongino spoke on Fox News “Fox & Friends Weekend” to speak to the killing of Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta.

Mr Bongino is an ex-NYPD officer and a former US Secret Service agent. In speaking to the death of Mr Brooks said to Fox & Friends:

“The worse option is to let this subject continue to engage in use of force against them [the officers], without stopping the episode,” Bongino, a Fox News contributor, said.

Trump’s Propaganda Ministry

Josef Goebbels Would Be Proud

Donald Trump, like any leader in the world, have staff to aid them in carrying out their duties. Most leaders have a press secretary, by some name, that interacts with the media and the media reports to the public.

In the Trump Administration there two media networks that do more than report the news. Fox News and One American News Network (OANN) are networks that go beyond reporting, becoming accomplices in spreading the lies of racist Donald Trump and his racist operatives. Fox News and OANN are complicit to the point that the networks changed from media organizations into a propaganda ministry.

Honorable Elected Republicans in Congress

Are there only two?

Note: It is really hard to get posts I’m working on finished when I continually have to speak out on news reports that pull away my attention.

Are US Senators Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowski the only Republicans in the United States Congress with any honor in their character? It seems so after Donald Trump’s tweet today about the 75 year old peaceful protestor, Martin Gugino, who was shoved by Buffalo police officers. Mr Gugino fell to the ground, striking his head on the concrete and sustained a head injury. As officers walked past Mr Gugino, you could see blood coming from his head. I’m sure you’re aware of the incident.

Police and Society

What One State is Doing About It

Americans have heard and seen reports, many with accompanying video footage, of excessive use of force and brutality against protestors and some rioters. We have the two Buffalo police officers who shove a 75 year old man, causing him to fall to the ground and hitting his head on the pavement. Then, while visibly bleeding from his head, he is ignored by many officers. They fail to render the man any assistance.

There have been reports of driving a patrol vehicle into a crowd of protestors, violently knocking protestors to the ground, police striking a man in the head, violently attacking and dispersing peaceful protestors to clear the way for a photo op, and so on. Members of the nation’s supposedly highly trained law enforcement personnel seem to have lost their ability to remain professionals.

Departments have relieved officers pending investigation into their actions, fired officers, and officers have been charged for their alleged violations. That’s all well and good, but what about the field supervisors who should be controlling their officers? Are they to get off without any disciplinary action? If there were no supervisors, then the command staff needs be held accountable. Also, more training at all levels may be called for too.

I acknowledge that officers have had to deal with rioting and looting, yet that is no excuse to be brutal towards anyone. We look to our law enforcement officers to work at a higher standard of behavior, to be professionals who stay within the laws.

Law enforcement agencies need our trust and we need to be able to trust them. Police have something no other civil group has, they can take away our freedom. It is vitally important that we know they will never let their professionalism fail them. We need our police, they do hold a thin blue line between a safe society and complete criminal anarchy. If we can’t trust them, then our society is doomed.

Right now in the United States there is a national upheaval occurring. Between the murder of George Floyd, the pandemic, and the tanked economy, we are teetering daily. We are unsure of what tomorrow will bring. When our national leaders fail us, as they are currently, we look to our state government to lead us and to our law enforcement to keep us safe.

America needs these protests to continue, to fight against systemic racial injustice. It needs to be done by Americans of all races, standing together to support our most discriminated against racial group – African Americans. Because until Black Lives Matter we will never be able to say that All Lives Matter.

The 21st Century Civil Rights Movement, Part 2

Where Do We Go Now?

Please start with Part 1.

There are many areas in society that need reform, so where do we start? I believe we start with the most visible organizations, the nation’s local, county, and state police agencies. How these agencies operate, are supervised and controlled must be changed.

Police Reform:

Here is what is needed to begin the never-ending change:

Civilian oversight boards must be instituted for each agency, with the authority to access all necessary records to review police actions, with results reported publicly. This includes personnel and disciplinary records, incident reports, body and car cam footage, witness statements and recordings that are available.

Laws need to be enacted to outlaw any type of dangerous physical restraint, such as choke holds or knees to the neck. Only the minimum force necessary must ever be used and only after deescalation tactics have failed or are determined to be untenable.

Agency policies and procedures must be enacted and enforced in the steps an officer must take once a suspect is in handcuffs or under some form of physical restraint. These procedures must result in protecting EVERYONE‘S life as much as is humanly possible. Policies must be implemented that removes officers that have proven complaints against them. The removed officer should be retrained or terminated, as determined by department leadership.
